Knitting and Measurements

   In order to start knitting I made all the necessary body measurements. The size, quantity, and sometimes color of knitting needles can be important to the successful design of cabled V-neck top. As it is known, the needles should be of the same diameter as the thread employed. If needles are substantially larger in diameter than the thread, then a person might have trouble creating loops when knitting the top. Wool thread comes in different diameters, so it is important to buy needles with the same diameter for a consistent design. The quantity of needles is usually a matter of personal preference. It sometimes depends on a kind of wool. Some people prefer to knit with two needles. For knitting of the v-neck top I, for example, used needles of 2cm in diameter. When a person decides to use this or that nedles, it is important to consider the length of these needles. The longer the needles the more loops one can create on them while knitting the sweater. The thinner the needles, the warmer will be the top in cold weather. And besides, my Mom recommended to have knitting needles of the color opposite to the knitting thread for the sake of effortlessness in creating loops. For example, if the color of the wool thread is black, a person can use either white, silver, or yellow knitting needles for contrast.
   Through Audible I could imagine my future v-neck knit top, so I made all necessary steps to fulfill my design, taking into consideration wool texture, amount, and color, and the approximate number of needles. The bigger in size of the top the greater amount of thread might be needed to complete the thing. In addition, the warmer the sweater, the thicker the thread and needles will be utilized to create it. When, according to the design, both thread and tools are prepared for the beginning of the project, the next step is to take body measurements.
   For women’s v-neck knit top, it is necessary to take the following body measurements – neck opening, shoulder width, and top’s length. Neck opening can be determined in a similar fashion by rapping a measuring tape around the neck. Shoulder width is measured from the beginning of the neck to the tip of the shoulder bone.
